Job Vacancy – Sustainability Trainee

About Fertilizers Europe
Fertilizers Europe represents the interests of the European fertilizer industry and acts as the sector’s voice at EU level. We are a key source of information on fertilizers and related policies, covering topics such as climate policy, carbon footprinting, agriculture, environment, technology, and safety. We also support our members through data, statistics, and sectoral analysis.

• Contract type: Paid traineeship under a Belgian Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle
• Location: Brussels, Belgium
• Working time: Full-time  Duration: 6 months to 1 year
• Starting date: 1 December 2026
• Eligibility: As this traineeship is offered under a Belgian Convention d'Immersion Professionnelle (CIP), it is open only to students still enrolled in a degree programme or to jobseekers who have recently completed their studies, in line with the eligibility conditions of the CIP scheme
• Work authorisation: Candidates must already hold the right to work in Belgium (e.g. EU/EEA/Swiss nationality, or a valid Belgian residence and work permit) at the time of application. Fertilizers Europe is unable to sponsor a work permit for this position

What You’ll Do
• Support the drafting of policy papers, briefings, and analyses on climate and agricultural legislation
• Follow EU policy developments and help translate them into clear updates for members
• Interact with member companies and European stakeholders
• Take part in committees, working groups, and ongoing projects
What You Bring
• A degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, sustainability, or a related field
• An interest in technical topics related to energy-intensive industries
• Familiarity with EU institutions and policy-making processes
• Very good written and spoken English; additional European languages are an asset
• Knowledge of agriculture a plus

• Comfortable working independently while being a reliable team player
• Proactive, organised, and able to manage several tasks and deadlines at the same time
